4) Color and appearance: colorless, transparent hexagonal, needlelike crystals

Melting point:: 42~44DC

Assay (Menthol): >=99.5% ( L- Menthol>=98%)

Specific rotation: 50 -49 (25DC)

Solubility: 1g sample can be dissolved in 5ml of  90%(V/V) alcohol, forming a clean solution

Non volatile matter: 0.05% max.

Arsenic content:  <=3ppm

Heavy metal (as Pb):  <=10ppm

Odor and usage: having characteristic odor of natural menthol

It is widely used in pharmaceuticals, food, cigarettes, tooth-paste and cosmetics.

Stored in closed containers and kept in cool and dry place below 33DC room temperature
